"eggheads"

I took this picture using my Leica M240 rangefinder camera, with f1.4 35mm Summilux lens at f1.4 aperture.   I wanted to draw the eye to the eggcup and to the pen so I opted for the wide aperture of f1.4 in order to achieve a very shallow depth of field.

"...the breakfast crossword puzzle"

I used my Leica Monocrom, with an aperture of f5.6, in order to gain a slightly deeper depth of field and, as a result, more detail overall.

Leica 1.4 Summilux lens, yellow filter, ISO 320 @ f5.6 1/90 second.

from Iona to Mull

The beautiful old wooden ketch in the centre of this shot makes it what it is, for me.   Without the old boat there would be no picture.   The colours were achieved in-camera and I used a 0.9 ND grad filter and a circular polarizer filter to darken the sky.
