"Broadchurch"

...this is a shot of Burton Cliffs between Burton Bradstock and West Bay on West Dorset's Jurassic Coast, looking West towards Golden Cap.   Burton Cliffs featured regularly in the scenery shots in the TV detective thriller serial, "Broadchurch".

These cliffs are composed of the Burton Sands, topped with Inferior Oolite and some Fuller's Earth.   In 2012 a cliff fall of rock resulted in a tragedy when a young mother was killed, while sitting beneath these cliffs.

Mossy Boulders and stunted oak tree, Wistmans Wood, Dartmoor

Wistmans Wood, on Dartmoor in Devon, South West England, is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI).   An upland oak wood, typical of a very small number of such woods in Britain, it is characterised by the fantastically knarled and twisted oak trees, many quite stunted, which have fought for a foothold among the deep moss-covered granite boulders which are such a feature of this place.

The trunks and branches of the oaks host many rare lichens and ferns, indicative of a damp and unpolluted atmosphere.

White Shell Sands of Iona

This shot was taken on the Isle of Iona, in early July, 2014.   I make no apologies for the predominance of the rocks in the foreground because this is part of the story - as well as being known throughout the world for St Columba's Abbey, Iona is famous for its marble, of which  these rocks are formed.
